Sports Massage

Massage Therapy has been proven to be very efficient in helping you improve your mobility, return to activity and maintain wellbeing.

Pilates

Pilates has been recognized for many years as a highly effective tool to treat and prevent injuries. Pilates can help to assess movement dysfunction and can then be used to correct the muscular imbalances responsible to such dysfunction.  Pilates builds strength, mobility and flexibility to encourage optimum function throughout the body.

About Joana Pires

I finished my Honours Physiotherapy degree in the year of 2011 in Portugal where I then worked  for 3 years in Lisbon in the Orthopeadic area and in the sports rehabilitation field being a physiotherapist of several sports clubs including the Portuguese Gymnastics Team.

When I arrived in London in 2014, I started working in the private clinical sector where I continued helping orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and sports clients (with special interest in running and martial arts) to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
I have spent years developing my skills in Manual Therapy and exercise prescription but also in persistent pain conditions.

I am also a qualified clinical Pilates instructor through APPI (the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute)  and have been helping clients to gain strength, mobility, flexibility and improving postural alignment via this highly effective method.

I firmly believe that a good physio is the one who can thoroughly assess not only the injury itself but also the person as a whole and their personal/ environmental conditions; this will then be the major key to adapt the rehabilitation to the client expectations and help to progressively integrate in the activities or sports they want to start or return to.

Aside from my professional work, I am also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor having won a Gold medal at the European Championship in 2019 as a purple belt M1 and Silver medal in 2020 as a Brown belt M1.

I have also participated in an interview of a new successful website about women in contact sports , talking about contact sports injuries in Women.

Customer reviews

“ I was referred to Joana by a friend and it is probably the best recommendation I’ve ever had, Joana has been brilliant, she is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. She was able to very quickly diagnose the issues I was experiencing just from the way I was standing.” Evans T

"I cannot recommend Joana enough, she has saved me multiple times over the last few years! Whenever I have an injury or problem, I always go back to Joana and trust her completely with my rehab and recovery - I genuinely couldn’t have run the London Marathon without her!"
